Open Position: Independent Living Coordinator
The Independent Living Program Coordinator (ILPC) will facilitate the successful transition of youth/young adults leaving child welfare out-of-home care (OHC) placement by creating opportunities for collaboration, communication, and service provision in the 17-county Region 2 area for those transitioning young people. In particular, the ILPC will lead a strong, effective partnership with respective county child welfare agencies (CWAs) and contracted Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth and Young Adult Career Services Specialists for the Bay Area Workforce Development Board to ensure continuity of appropriate services and continued implementation of transitioning youths’ career plans. The ultimate goal is to assist “disconnected” young people to achieve personal and economic success as adults leading to independence and self-sufficiency by coordinating the efforts and resources of multiple service agencies.
The Independent Living Program comes to the Bay Area Workforce Development Board through the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) with funding from the federal John H. Chafee Foster Care Independence Act of 1999 (CFCIP). Region 2 consists of the following counties: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago.
